Step into Spring in Style

While the last days of April stay true to form with fluctuating temperatures and several weathers in one day, Spring trends are in full swing.

I’ve done the homework for you, and here are the most wearable trends to hit the catwalk, and some tips on how to wear them.

You’re welcome! X

Seasons print : Gingham – Every Spring sees a version of Bohemian. This year it has taken on more of a Cowgirl vibe, with Gingham prints everywhere.

Tips – For larger ladies keep the print mid-size of larger, and for petite ladies keep the print smaller. Keep the print to one piece – jacket, top or dress to avoid looking like graph paper! Not brave enough for prints? Try a bag or scarf instead.

Seasons detail : Ruffles – A look for all you romantics! And not just for the evening.

Tips – Avoid tiered ruffles as this adds weight and width. Look for ruffles on necklines or hems which break up the eyeline and give a softer silhouette. For larger ladies, stick to heavier fabrics and more structured pieces, petite ladies can opt for lighter fabrics and looser fits.

Seasons fabric : Denim – Yes, it’s still huge! The High street is full of denim dresses and shirtsbut in new ways. Patchwork denim combines the two trends, there’s also printed denim.

Tips – Keep the look simple, add a white shirt with your new printed jeans for a classic look. Or add a patchwork denim waistcoat over a summer dress for a Beatnik look. Again, one piece only. Leave the head to toe denim in the 80’s.

Seasons accessory : The Half-Moon bag – While it isn’t a ‘new’ shape, it is the ‘now’ shape! A practical day to night option in a lovely geometric shape. What’s not to love?!

Tips – Keep the size in scale with yourself i.e. Petite ladies – small to mid sized, Larger ladies – mid to larger sized bag.

Season’s colour : Orange – ‘I don’t do orange’ I hear you say. Whilst I’m all for not looking like a Jaffa cake, why not try a scarf, necklace or nail polish in a juicy shade?

Tips – For warmer skin tones opt for coral, salmon or bright orange. For cooler skin tones limit the colour to an accessory or within a print with cooler colours such as blues.

Have a great Spring!
